During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Ms. Bethea led the Communications team who strategically planned and executed a series of quarterly community conversations to be a source of accurate, evidence based information about vaccines that community members could trust.

Intervention Programs

The Student Health Empowerment (SHE) program was a health and wellness intervention funded by SAMHSA for black female college students, using print, digital, event, and peer-to-peer marketing to promote healthy behaviors; 517 students enrolled; 452 students became certified SHE scholars; 151 students were screened for HIV.

Ms. Bethea developed content for a campus door-hanger infographic, social media posts and website content. Additionally, Ms. Bethea provided on-site campus support at her alma mater, Spelman College to engage students interested in participating in the mental health, substance abuse, and sexual health program for African American collegiate women.

Community Partnerships

February — American Heart Month is an opportunity to drive awareness of heart health risk factors and support communities with healthy behaviors.

Ms. Bethea partnered with the Jazz WCLK to drive awareness of free community events including health fairs, screenings, cooking demos, and exercise camps hosted by Morehouse School of Medicine and its various community based partners. Listen to the interview here.
